Collagraphs
For the collagraph project, I used spiritually free as my main idea, I choose fighting fish as an object. The nature of fighting fish is to face fish of the same sex, and they will continue to attack each other until they get injured and die.
I use fighting fish as an object in the subject of spiritually free because I want the nature of fighting fish to be included in my theme. To highlight the theme of freedom, fighting fish attacks the same sex, and in my mind, Fighting fish is just like ourselves. Many times, we will continue to attack others, whether intentionally or unintentionally, whether in words or our hearts. Many people’s sense of security is in attacking others to the satisfaction, but not Not a permanent satisfaction.
So I use fighting fish as the theme to express the characteristics of fighting fish, but at the same time, I want to express a sense of freedom in the background.
I chose oil paint instead of intaglio ink, coz I did not find intaglio ink in other colors.
It's just that every time I paint the color, I have to constantly adjust the color, there is no way I can use the same color every time.
It’s very interesting that the lines of the oil paintbrush are also printed. The Texture of the brush and the texture of the cooked rice paper are merged together, and the effect is very different from the handprint.
I use mount boards to make different stencils, and the background uses monoprint to draw the flowers. The whole picture is more inclined to the style of Chinese realistic painting.
The color of the fish is more prominent, based on the three primary colors.
I chose to use Cooked rice Chinese paper because Chinese paper has different textures, and these textures will bring a different visual effect to the picture.
When I printed, the background was the sky and clouds, and the sky was expressed in blue, which looked not only like the sky, but also like the color of the sea. The shape of the middle cloud highlighted the color of the fish. Color is also focused on using three primary colors
